Thinking of cake.........

While I was sewing my penguin with the sticky up hair, I was thinking about cake or more to the point what cake I wanted to eat right now, while I am sewing.
After a lot of thought ........well five minutes I decided I wanted French Madeleine's.

So I downed my sewing needle and picked up my wooden mixing spoon and off I went. I made 30 Madeleine's and now its back to work sewing.

I need to finish my penguin as I need to begin a quilt block, for "around the world quilt group" I have joined. And I have just started a new scrappy quilt today as well. I shall tell you more later as I have cake to eat and penguin's to sew and  a polar bear.

Just not enough time in the day.......

Thanks for stopping by...... see you soon.

Greetings from Antarctica!!!!!!

Over at threadbias we have been having a sew along. The book we are sewing from is called "Pretty in Patchwork Holidays by John.q.Adams".

It was decided that every month we would sew something different from the book, so for January we are sewing penguins and polar bear pillows. Well mine might not be a pillow, I may make bags for Christmas for my nieces as I have only enlarged the pattern by 200% and this is the perfect size for little people to carry their goodies in. My nieces are small only 1-3 years old.

This is the template, enlarged by 200 %

So I thought, I would show you how I am getting on and I need to decide what I am going to do, as I can't put his eyes on until I have quilted and he looks a bit lost at the moment with no eyes.

This is how it started.

This is what it looked like half way through.

Finished but he needs eyes but the can't be put on until I have quilted and added a boarder and made it into a bag or pillow!!!!!!!

This is the next one a penguin with sticky up hair.

I shall keep you posted on how it all goes and I need to get a move as there is a polar bear to make as well and February is here in a few days and our next sew along is going to be a " holiday surprise reverse applique' pillow" either a heart or Christmas tree. I may do this or some of this on the sewing machine !!!!! I do all my sewing by hand.

As I am not very brave about doing quilts or quilt work by machine, I guess it just the way I have been taught. But I do  use the machine for everything else.... but quilts !!!!

Up date on Daisy

Just to let you know Daisy is molting!!!!!!!!!! It looks like a giant pillow fight in the cabin everyday now.

With 8,500 feathers, I am hoping she will not lose all of them and do what Dotty did and just molt some. But this is week one!!, so I have two weeks to go.

Thanks for stopping by

See you soon.

Table Mats and Coasters..... London Style.

I had this material since the summer and I could not decide what to make!

I wanted to make my sister a gift for Christmas and while looking through my stash of material ( a rather large stash of material that seems to grow weekly) I found all my London fabric.

So I decided what ones to use and started making her four table mats using the London tube map material and four coasters using my London building and Icons fabric. The coasters are reversible as I was having trouble deciding which I liked the most. And I thought if she got bored looking at one side she could always turn them over to look at the other pictures.

I like them so much I made some for myself. And I still have some of the material left to make something else. Just not sure what that something will be yet.

Maybe a patchwork bag of all London fabric!!!!!!!!!

Happy New Year.....Welcome to 2013!

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope the  Holiday's where fun and enjoyable and the New Year was everything you hope for.

I have not made a New Years resolution as I can never think of one or keep one.But for everyone who has, good luck and I hope you all succeed. Remember just by changing one small thing has a huge impact later on.

Well let me catch you up on life over Christmas in the cabin. Dotty went through her annual molt, which lasted three weeks, as this is her first molt she did not lose all her feather but this year may be different. Daisy and Betty had their molt earlier (October)but they are only 18 months old so it may be all different towards the end of the year. I read that the average chicken has 8,500 feathers, so it could look like a giant pillow fight in the cabin next winter.

Then Daisy became unwell, very quiet and would not eat her dried food and has only been eating corn on the cob. I knew she was unwell last Friday as she refused to eat her toast.

But we have been to see the vets and they are a little unsure of what may be wrong  as Daisy does not have a temperature and her other bits are fine. But we decided to have a course of antibiotics just to be safe. As last night it was -4 and tonight it could be -7 and if she does have a bug I don't want to risk it with the cold nights and we may have snow by Friday.

Bear my cat loved the Christmas tree, looked a bit puzzled as to why I would put a tree in the house but still slept under it. You would think after 14 years she would be used to a Christmas tree in the living room. Put we don't put present under until Christmas Eve because she love paper and you can guess what happens, if we put them out earlier.

I am also looking after my sister's houseplants while she is moving, so I had to find places in the house for 15 various sized houseplants. I need to remember they are not used to loving care approach more like  drought season, as she would forget to water them. But her philosophy was they had two choice and they seemed to like the drought come monsoon season kind of living.

There is lots more to tell but Daisy needs her medicine before she goes off to bed. I have a childs' syringe and need to get her to open beck so I can give her medicine!!!!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by.

See you all again soon...........
